Not directly hallon related this is! But I just have to make it written.
Everytime I open my Windows Media Player (Yes! I don't like I-Tunes) I type Jeff Buckley and Press play. It's the same story at work, except for opening Windows media player I go to www.deezer.com and search for jeff Buckley and press play.
This guy died in 1997. He drowned! Who would have thought that? And now I have to have the thought of - I will never be able to see Jeff Buckley Live. This is a hard fact to realize and it gets harder the more i think of it.
Have you ever heard the song Fake Plastic Tree by Radiohead? That song is truely inspired by a live performance by Jeff Buckley. Google it if I got you interested.
But what has this to do with Hallon Driving School, you might say? Well, me and Tom are very inpired by Jeff Buckleys music. His way of arranging songs, singing the songs and how he writes them, well everything.
Fare you well. I will go to bed and get my sleep I so badly need.
I am so looking forward to Saturday. I have a promise to make. We will make the show the best show you've ever seen. That is a Promise!

Everything is falling into place!
So, finally, all the songs are nearly mixed down and the website is nearly ready. The gig is coming up fast!
It feels like music has taken over our lives and it feels good! We just can't seem to stop writing great songs and
the harmonies are getting better and better. Now we just need for a record company to see us play and then
we can quit our day jobs :)
just a short one today!

Mixing down-a full day
So everything is falling into place.
I have spent hours tweaking the knobs on c# minor to get that organic feel.
We have gone for a more 'feeling' sound with the new songs. We want to express an emotion
and not show how good we are at playing the instruments.
The hardest part of the recording has been to get the sounds of the guitars and bass and the voices sound
like they are played in a studio. This is the hardest part as we only record in my room which means the
natural sound you get is actually pretty crappy.
The big problem with me and Ante is that we have a backlog of about 20 songs that we need to record.
We seem to spend 2 hours recording a song but then 6 days adding new vocals and messing around with the sound.
We spend the whole day with music flying around our heads and we need to release it...
Its like holding in a pee for the whole day. As soon as we touch the guitar, everythign is fine and we can be ourselves again.
Its funny to think that this piece of wood can be the key to our happiness.
Like Ante said, the neighbours seem to love our music which is a nice thing to hear. The gig is coming up at the winston very soon and we are getting some good music together. Its weird for me to be switching to bass again, but enjoyable to be discovering it all afresh.
Anyway, thats whats happening with us at the moment. Me and Ante are enjoying living together and making music whenever we can. It feels like we are on the right track. Just hope the music reflects that!

Recording the final touch
Yesterday we recorded the final touches to C#minor, which will be added to the Hallon Player as soon as it is mixed down properly. We felt that the song needed som more rythmic background sound so we added an acoustic guitar which also added a more organic feel to the song. While we were in the mode of recording I got the Idea for a third harmony that is very close to toms second harmony. But as it has a different tone it fitted very well with the whole song.
We rocord or practice everyday now adays and we have neighbours in all directions. So if a neighbour complains it's understandable but today a beautiful thing happend. When Tom left the house he bumped in to one of the neighbours. This neighbour asked if we played music yesterday and Toms natural reply to this was to say Sorry. The neighour then said: "No no. It was lovely. We lied on the bed and it was very relaxing to listen to your music"
That is a wonderful thing to hear!
Ok, I am off and will come back after next music meeting which will be tonight as we are rehearsing acoustic tonight for the band rehearsal tomorrow a melody line.
